Immigration officers seize passports, cash, and detain suspected syndicate leader

Malaysian immigration authorities have dismantled a suspected prostitution syndicate operating out of a luxury bungalow in Kuala Lumpur, arresting 40 foreign nationals in a midnight raid.

Midnight Raid In Upscale Neighborhood
The operation took place at 12:27am on Feb 12 at a three-storey bungalow in Desa Pahlawan, an upscale residential area in Kuala Lumpur. The raid was carried out by the Immigration Department’s Intelligence and Special Operations division.

Authorities arrested 40 foreign nationals aged between 21 and 43. The property was suspected to have been modified to facilitate vice-related activities and was allegedly chosen to avoid detection.

Suspected Syndicate Leader Identified
Immigration deputy director-general of Operations Lokman Effendi Ramli said one of the detainees, a male Chinese national, is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation.

Among those arrested were 11 Chinese men, 19 Chinese women, five Vietnamese women, two Myanmar women, and two Japanese women. One male Chinese national was believed to have acted as a salesman responsible for sourcing clients through online platforms.

Immigration Status Under Scrutiny
Preliminary investigations found that the alleged mastermind and another Chinese man held valid employment passes. Six Chinese men, 19 Chinese women, two Japanese women, and five Vietnamese women were found with social visit passes.

Others were reportedly without valid travel documents or permits to remain in Malaysia. All detainees have been taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further investigation.

Cash, Passports, And Vehicles Seized

Authorities seized 29 Chinese passports, five Vietnamese passports, and two Japanese passports during the raid. They also confiscated RM26,600 in cash, approximately S$8,618, believed to be proceeds from illegal activities.

Two vehicles linked to the operation were also confiscated as part of the enforcement action.

Pricing And Clientele
The syndicate allegedly targeted both local and foreign clients. According to investigators, clients were charged RM1,000, approximately S$324, for 45 minutes and RM3,500, approximately S$1,134, for 90 minutes.

Lokman said the group is believed to have been active for about six months before being detected.

Ongoing Investigation And Legal Action
In addition to the 40 foreign nationals arrested, a Singaporean man and a Malaysian man have been issued notices to appear to assist in investigations.

Lokman stated that enforcement authorities will continue taking firm action against activities that violate Malaysian law to safeguard national stability and public order.

The Kuala Lumpur raid highlights ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to crack down on vice-related activities and immigration violations. With cross-border elements and foreign nationals involved, the case underscores the regional dimension of organized vice networks. For Indonesians and Singaporeans observing enforcement trends, the operation reflects stricter monitoring of immigration status and illegal commercial activities across Southeast Asia.
