Unexpected generosity from a customer turns a routine delivery into a viral moment

Acts of kindness often appear when least expected. For one Grab delivery rider in Malaysia, a routine food drop-off became a moment that resonated with millions online and reminded many of the power of generosity.

A Routine Delivery Turns Extraordinary
Grab delivery rider Muhamad Rafiuddin was completing a regular GrabFood order when he experienced a surprise that would soon capture nationwide attention. On Dec. 15, Rafiuddin shared a TikTok video documenting his delivery to a customer named Brandon at a landed property in Malaysia.

An Unexpected Request to Wait
After handing over the food through a window, Rafiuddin stepped away to photograph the completed delivery, as required by the platform. As he prepared to leave on his motorcycle, Brandon stopped him and asked him to wait briefly, saying he wanted to give him a tip.

RM1,000 Handed Over in Cash
Moments later, Brandon returned and handed Rafiuddin a thick stack of cash. Visibly shocked, the rider asked if the customer was sure, noting that it was a large amount. Brandon casually explained that he was leaving the next day and did not feel like changing the money back.

Shock, Gratitude, and a Viral Reveal
Once back on his motorcycle, Rafiuddin unfolded the stack to reveal RM100 notes totaling RM1,000, approximately S$316. In the video caption, he described it as the biggest tip he had ever received during his time delivering with GrabFood.

Online Praise Floods In
The video quickly went viral, racking up more than two million views. Social media users praised Brandon’s generosity and celebrated Rafiuddin’s good fortune. Comments ranged from heartfelt messages about good karma to lighthearted jokes calling Brandon a “generous lazy person.”

This viral moment highlights how small decisions can have an outsized impact, especially on gig workers who rely on daily deliveries for income. For Indonesians and Singaporeans familiar with the ride-hailing and delivery economy, the story serves as a reminder that empathy and generosity can travel far, sometimes reaching millions, with a single unexpected act.
