Danareksa’s Kuala Lumpur program boosts Indonesian MSMEs with global exposure and standards.
Indonesia’s micro, small, and medium enterprises are stepping into a larger international arena as PT Danareksa Persero brings promising local brands to Malaysia. The initiative aims to strengthen market access, sharpen global competitiveness, and position Indonesian products as strong contenders in regional trade.
Danareksa Strengthens Regional Positioning
PT Danareksa Persero advanced its mission to globalize Indonesian MSMEs by bringing nine businesses to the “Lateral Thinking – MSME Business Matching” program in Kuala Lumpur. The initiative was conducted together with six subsidiaries, reinforcing its status as a major driver of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprise ecosystem.
The participating MSMEs represented diverse sectors including fashion, culinary products, crafts, and educational toys. Many showcased sustainability-focused and culturally inspired products, aligning with rising consumer preferences in Malaysia.
Showcasing Sustainable and Heritage-Based Products
Several standout brands captured significant attention during the two-day exhibition. Aruna Creative from Yogyakarta presented eco-friendly fashion, while Malang’s Green Star introduced healthy MOCAF-based food products. Batik Semburat highlighted traditional textile artistry, and Jakarta-based Asyifa Toys displayed innovative educational toys.
Agus Widjaja, Danareksa’s CSR and Corporate Secretary, emphasized that properly curated Indonesian products can thrive internationally. He noted that the exhibition attracted around 10,000 visitors, demonstrating strong interest in Indonesian MSMEs when supported with quality packaging, legal compliance, and adequate production capacity.

Building on Previous Regional Engagement
Danareksa currently oversees around 1,000 MSMEs nationwide. The Kuala Lumpur initiative builds on a similar program held in Johor Bahru in 2024, signaling a long-term commitment to expanding MSME access to international markets.
Agus highlighted that Lateral Thinking serves as a strategic platform to reshape MSME perspectives. Through firsthand exposure to global standards, participants gain insights into certification requirements—particularly halal standards—and product innovation trends favored in Malaysia.
A Strategic Step Toward Export Readiness
By facilitating direct interaction with overseas buyers, Danareksa positions MSMEs for export readiness. The program also helps businesses identify market gaps and refine production strategies to meet regional demand.
Approach to Strengthens the Economic
This strengthens Indonesia’s broader economic ambition to elevate MSMEs into competitive global players. With focused support from SOEs and strategic collaborations, local brands are increasingly able to scale beyond domestic boundaries.
Danareksa’s initiative reflects a growing synergy between Indonesian industry development and regional market integration. As MSMEs expand into Malaysia and other neighboring economies, both Indonesians and Singaporeans benefit from deeper economic ties, diversified products, and stronger cross-border collaboration.
