From Sept 8, Singapore Police Force streamlines online access with secure digital IDs
Singapore Police Force (SPF) has updated access to its e-services, making Singpass and Corppass mandatory from September 8. The move aims to strengthen data protection while creating a smoother user experience.
Digital Security Upgrade
On September 7, SPF announced that its e-services would transition to Singpass and Corppass as the primary login methods. The change took effect after midnight on September 8, alongside a refreshed corporate website. Officials said the update is part of ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity and provide a more user-friendly interface.
Exceptions for Foreign Users
While most services now require digital authentication, two exceptions remain for foreigners without Singpass. A foreign identification number (FIN) can be used to apply and pay for a Certificate of Clearance, or to check its status. Similarly, foreign vehicle numbers can still be used to check outstanding traffic offences and pay fines.
Range of Services Covered
With the shift, services such as submitting medical examination reports for elderly drivers, applying for qualified driving licences, checking Driver Improvement Points, and requesting certified true copies of police documents must be accessed via Singpass or Corppass. Businesses and individuals without accounts can register directly on the respective platforms.
Website Refresh and Service Disruption
To support the transition, the SPF corporate website underwent scheduled maintenance on the night of September 7. The site was unavailable from 8pm to midnight, with intermittent disruptions until 8am the following day. The refreshed site now integrates seamlessly with Singpass and Corppass for secure access.
Public Guidance and Support
Authorities advised users to verify government websites through ScamShield or the 24/7 anti-scam helpline at 1799 to avoid phishing risks. Those encountering issues with the new access methods can contact SPF via its feedback portal, hotline (1800-358-0000), or by visiting a police station.
The digital shift marks another step in Singapore’s push toward secure, centralized online services. For citizens, businesses, and even foreign users, the new login requirements reflect a balance between stronger cybersecurity and accessibility—reinforcing Singapore’s commitment to safe and efficient digital governance.
