After being rejected post-breakup, 77-year-old man publicly humiliated his former partner
A 77-year-old Singaporean man has been jailed for 11 weeks after distributing intimate photos of his 44-year-old ex-girlfriend at her workplaces. His actions followed her refusal to rekindle a sexual relationship, turning personal revenge into a criminal offense.
From Relationship to Retaliation
The man and the woman began dating in March 2024, during which she sent him two intimate images, including one showing her face and bare chest. Their relationship ended on August 20, 2024. Just two days later, the man visited her workplace, demanding sex. When she refused, he launched a public smear campaign.
Public Shaming at Coffee Shop
On the morning of August 22, the man went to a coffee shop where the woman worked as a dishwasher and showed her nude image to two beverage stall employees. He claimed she was “promiscuous” and voluntarily removed her clothes during their relationship.

He later followed her to another coffee shop during her afternoon shift, repeating the same act by showing her photo to two more workers. The woman found out only later that evening through a colleague and immediately contacted the police.
Court Hearing and Sentencing
The man was charged with two counts of distributing intimate images without consent under Singapore’s Penal Code. On July 3, 2025, he pleaded guilty to one charge, while the second was taken into consideration.

Despite pleading for leniency due to his age and three-week remand, the court handed down an 11-week jail sentence, emphasizing the severity of workplace harassment and violation of consent.
Victim Forced to Leave Jobs

The psychological toll on the victim was significant. She had to quit both jobs and requested relocation due to public humiliation and fear of continued harassment. The prosecution underscored that the offender targeted her at two workplaces, making the crime especially invasive.
Image-Based Offenses in Singapore
Under Singapore law, those found guilty of distributing or showing intimate images without consent can face up to five years in prison, a fine, caning, or all three. This case adds to the growing number of image-based abuse cases, highlighting the dangers of misusing private content out of vengeance.
This case underscores the emotional and reputational damage caused by non-consensual image sharing, especially when used as a weapon of retaliation. For Indonesians and Singaporeans alike, it reinforces the importance of consent, digital safety, and the legal consequences of violating another’s privacy. Authorities continue to take such offenses seriously, regardless of the offender’s age.
