Drugged and raped for eight years, Annie survived horror at the hands of her ex-husband.
Annie, a mother of four, endured eight years of unimaginable abuse in what is now known as Singapore’s most disturbing wife-rape case. Betrayed by her husband, she was drugged and violated by multiple men, including on her wedding anniversary. Her strength in breaking the silence led to justice — and her long journey toward healing.
The Shocking Ordeal
Between 2010 and 2018, Annie was repeatedly drugged with Dormicum by her husband and raped by at least five other men, all while unconscious. The abuse was orchestrated by J, who even recorded and shared the assaults online. One attack happened on their wedding anniversary.
Dark Network of Betrayal
This abuse was part of a wider “wife-rape ring” involving seven men, four of whom drugged their own wives. In total, four women were victimized. Court-imposed gag orders protected their identities, but Annie chose to speak out.
Discovery and Courage

On New Year’s Day in 2020, Annie found explicit photos on J’s phone that confirmed her worst suspicions. Despite family pressure to remain silent, she reported the crimes on Jan 2, 2020. Her courage led to the arrest and prosecution of the entire ring.
Justice Served
J was sentenced to 29 years’ jail and 24 strokes of the cane. Five other men received prison terms ranging from 13 to 22 years; three were also caned. One man was jailed three years for an attempted assault.
Moving Forward
Annie finalized her divorce in April 2025. While she allows her children to visit J’s parents, she no longer communicates with her former in-laws. She has rebuilt her life, sold her former home, and continues to shield her children from the media spotlight.
“I don’t love him anymore,” she said of her ex-husband, who continues to send her letters from prison. But Annie has moved on — with strength, dignity, and a fierce love for her children.
Annie’s story is one of unbearable betrayal, but also of incredible courage. Her decision to speak out has not only brought justice but shed light on hidden abuse. In her words, “We have to forgive him so that we can move on.”
