Riau Islands Police and related agencies conduct surprise inspections to ensure a clean and safe nightlife environment.
In an intensified crackdown against illegal drugs and unauthorized alcohol, the Riau Islands Regional Police spearheaded a sweeping nightlife raid across Batam, spotlighting its firm stance on public security and narcotics prevention.
Coordinated Operation Targets Nightclubs Across Batam
On the night of April 25, 2025, until the early hours of April 26, the Riau Islands Regional Police, through its Directorate of Narcotics (Ditresnarkoba), joined forces with related agencies to conduct a large-scale raid across Batam’s nightlife scene. Centered in the Imperium Batam area, the operation started at 11:00 PM and deployed 91 personnel, including 83 from Ditresnarkoba, 3 from the Professional and Security Division (Propam), 3 from the Medical Division (Dokkes), and 2 from the Public Relations Division (Humas), reflecting a comprehensive strategy to combat drug misuse and alcohol violations.

Ten Entertainment Venues Inspected Thoroughly
The coordinated raids covered ten major entertainment spots: Panda Club, Redfox, Barfly, Daddy’s Bar, Fat Willy’s Bar, Dragon KTV & Pub, Square, Bigbros, Atmos Club, and Kampung Bule. The officers conducted selective inspections, including random urine tests on individuals showing suspicious behavior, maintaining a respectful yet firm enforcement approach. The chosen venues reflect high-traffic nightlife hubs in Batam, considered hotspots for potential illegal activities.

Clear Results from Drug Tests, Alcohol Confiscations Highlighted
Urine tests were administered to ten individuals—six men and four women—across venues like Redfox, Dragon KTV & Pub, Square, Bigbros, Atmos Club, and Kampung Bule. All tests returned negative results for narcotics, indicating an encouraging sign for the city’s nightlife compliance. However, violations related to unlicensed alcohol sales surfaced, especially at Atmos Club, where authorities seized 60 bottles of alcohol without distribution permits.
In addition to the seizure at Atmos Club, the police confiscated another unlicensed alcohol bottle at Kampung Bule. These findings underline the persistent issue of unregulated alcohol distribution in Batam’s entertainment districts. Although no narcotics offenses were recorded during the raids, the alcohol-related violations highlight the necessity for continuous monitoring and enforcement to safeguard the nightlife environment.

Reinforcing P4GN Program and Public Safety
This operation is part of the Riau Islands Police’s ongoing implementation of the P4GN Program (Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics), emphasizing the prevention, eradication, and control of narcotics and illegal substances. The program not only aims to eliminate drug use but also targets the broader threats posed by unauthorized substances infiltrating public entertainment venues.
Head of Public Relations for the Riau Islands Police, Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, S.H., M.Si., emphasized that these raids will continue regularly to ensure a safe and clean community environment. He affirmed the police’s commitment to both preventive and repressive strategies to tackle narcotics and unauthorized goods, aiming to maintain public trust and ensure that Batam remains secure for its residents and visitors alike.
In his closing statement, Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad urged all societal elements to actively participate in reporting any illicit activities. Citizens needing police assistance, crime mapping, or wanting to submit reports are encouraged to use the Call Center 110 or download the Polri Super Apps available on Google Play and App Store, demonstrating the integration of technology into public service.
The Riau Islands Regional Police’s commitment to securing Batam’s nightlife from the threats of narcotics and unauthorized alcohol strengthens public safety in Indonesia and preserves Batam’s reputation as a trusted, vibrant destination, especially for Singaporeans seeking a safe entertainment environment nearby.
