White Mercedes abandoned near Sims Avenue as three occupants escape on foot in different directions
A dramatic escape unfolded in Geylang on April 4, 2025, when the occupants of a white Mercedes fled on foot after reversing away from a police roadblock. The vehicle was left idling in the middle of the street as officers launched an active manhunt.
The incident occurred around 8pm when Traffic Police officers were conducting a routine roadblock at Lorong 14 Geylang. As the checkpoint came into view, the Mercedes driver reversed away and later abandoned the vehicle along Lorong 21, sparking a swift response from law enforcement.
Mercedes Abandoned With Engine Running
Witnesses described the aftermath of the escape, noting that the vehicle — a white Mercedes — was left with its engine still running at the junction of Lorong 21 Geylang and Sims Avenue. Photos published by local media showed multiple police officers cordoning off the scene and inspecting the car, with some officers carrying evidence bags and a K9 unit deployed.
According to Shin Min Daily News, dashcam footage captured the vehicle speeding before coming to an abrupt stop. The footage revealed three individuals quickly exiting the car and fleeing in different directions. One of them was seen retrieving a bag from the vehicle before disappearing down a side road.

Eyewitnesses Describe Sudden Chaos
Bystanders described the scene as chaotic. A 28-year-old driver named Mr Huang recalled watching the passengers sprint away from the car. Another, a fruit seller named Mr Fang, said one man ran “very fast” past his shop shortly after horns blared in the area.
Although no police chase occurred at that exact moment, the sudden flight puzzled witnesses. The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they are working to identify and trace the individuals involved.
Surveillance and Forensics in Progress
CCTV cameras in the area are expected to aid in the investigation. As of now, authorities have not disclosed the reasons behind the suspects’ hasty escape, but their coordinated exit and the retrieval of an unknown bag have raised suspicions.
The vehicle is undergoing forensic analysis, and its registration is being reviewed to determine ownership and any links to ongoing investigations.
This incident has heightened public interest in enforcement activities in high-traffic districts like Geylang. It underscores the challenges police face when routine checks escalate unexpectedly. With the suspects still at large, public vigilance and cooperation will be critical as investigations continue.
