Paris Baguette, the internationally acclaimed bakery brand under SPC Group, has officially launched its first Halal food hub in Johor, Malaysia, a strategic investment aimed at bolstering its global supply chain and meeting the surging demand for Halal-certified bakery products. The RM260 million (SGD 74.8 million) facility features seven advanced production lines, with an annual capacity of 100 million bakery products, positioning Malaysia as a crucial player in the global Halal food industry.

The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) has been a hotspot for foreign investments, particularly in Halal food production and exports. Malaysia’s globally recognized Halal certification system makes it an ideal base for companies looking to enter Muslim-majority markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. On March 4, 2025, Paris Baguette inaugurated its first-ever Halal food hub in Johor, Malaysia, marking a pivotal moment in its global expansion strategy. The facility, valued at RM260 million (SGD 74.8 million), will serve as the central production hub for Halal-certified bakery products, catering to expanding markets in Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

The grand opening ceremony was attended by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, South Korean Ambassador to Malaysia Yeo Seung-bae, and SPC Group Chairman Hur Young In, highlighting the international significance of the project.

Johor’s strategic location within the JS-SEZ provides seamless access to local and international markets, making it a prime destination for food manufacturing and exports. With Malaysia’s Halal certification system globally recognized, Paris Baguette aims to strengthen its international supply chain and increase its market penetration in Muslim-majority regions.

SPC Group Chairman Hur Young In emphasized the importance of cultural exchange through food, stating, “Food is more than just what we eat—it is a way to share culture, identity, and traditions. Today’s grand opening symbolizes our commitment to building strong connections with local communities, creating job opportunities, and fostering collaboration.”

Malaysia has been positioning itself as a global leader in the Halal food industry, and this latest investment solidifies its standing as a Halal food production hub. Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid welcomed the move, calling it “a defining step in cementing Malaysia’s status as a global Halal food hub.”

Beyond its Halal certification and global market expansion, the Paris Baguette Regional Halal Food Hub is expected to create new employment opportunities for Malaysians, contributing to the local economy. Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi praised the investment, stating, “This facility will not only strengthen Johor’s role within the JS-SEZ but will also provide employment opportunities and enhance Malaysia’s reputation as a global leader in Halal food production.”

SPC Group President Hur Jin Soo also expressed optimism, emphasizing that the facility’s advanced production lines will ensure consistency, efficiency, and high standards in Halal-certified food production.

Paris Baguette’s decision to establish its first regional Halal food hub in Johor represents a major leap in Malaysia’s ambition to dominate the Halal food industry. The investment reinforces Johor’s role within the JS-SEZ and positions Malaysia as a key player in the global Halal food supply chain. As the demand for Halal-certified products continues to grow, Malaysia’s robust Halal certification framework, strategic location, and investment-friendly policies make it an attractive destination for food manufacturers seeking international expansion.
