Strategic alliance aims to strengthen regional aviation ties and improve passenger experience
Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines (SQ) are set to establish a joint venture aimed at enhancing regional aviation connectivity and improving passenger services. The strategic partnership will focus on increasing flight frequencies, expanding codeshare agreements, and offering enhanced frequent flyer benefits.
Garuda Indonesia’s CEO, Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, confirmed that discussions with Singapore Airlines’ CEO, Goh Choon Phong, had taken place on January 22, 2025, to finalize the alignment of the joint venture. The agreement is expected to be implemented in the near future.
Boosting Regional Connectivity
The partnership will strengthen air travel between Indonesia and Singapore, particularly on key routes such as Jakarta-Singapore, Surabaya-Singapore, and Bali-Singapore. Under the revenue-sharing model, both airlines will collaborate on optimizing flight schedules and enhancing passenger convenience.
Wamildan emphasized the importance of this alliance in reinforcing regional aviation ties. “With this joint venture, we are committed to delivering greater value and enhanced travel experiences for our passengers,” he stated.

Expanding Codeshare Agreements
Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines have already developed a successful partnership through their codeshare agreement. This joint venture will further expand their cooperation, providing passengers with increased flexibility and seamless travel options.
Enhancing Frequent Flyer Benefits
The collaboration will also integrate frequent flyer programs, allowing passengers from both airlines to enjoy shared benefits, including access to premium airport lounges, priority services, and exclusive rewards.
One of the major aspects of this joint venture will be the revenue-sharing model, which aims to maximize profitability for both airlines while ensuring a competitive edge in the region. This approach will enhance cost efficiency and provide better service offerings for travelers.
This joint venture signifies improved flight options, competitive pricing, and enhanced passenger services. The strengthened partnership aligns with both nations’ ambitions to boost air travel and tourism, providing greater accessibility and seamless connectivity.
