Home Repair Dispute Turns Violent, Contractor Faces Serious Charges
A contractor in Kluang, Johor, has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a senior housing executive during a dispute over home repairs. The 38-year-old suspect is accused of attacking Md Feries Sallih, 49, leaving him with serious injuries, including a head wound and a fractured finger. The incident, which took place on January 17, 2025, has prompted an investigation under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a fine.

The altercation occurred on January 17, 2025, at Meridian, Taman Kluang Barat, where the victim had visited the suspect’s residence to address concerns regarding allegedly substandard repair work.
The Kluang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh, confirmed that the suspect became aggressive after the victim attempted to explain the repairs, leading to a violent confrontation.

The suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a bag containing a mobile phone, punched his chest, and kicked his back. In addition, the victim’s bag was forcibly taken. As a result, the victim suffered a head injury and a fractured middle finger.
Following the attack, the suspect was arrested on January 20, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the Kluang police headquarters. Authorities have confirmed that the suspect has two prior criminal records, raising further concerns about his history of violence.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which covers voluntarily causing grievous hurt. If convicted, the suspect faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a fine. A remand application has been scheduled for January 21, 2025, to assist with further investigations.
The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a long-standing dispute over defective home repairs. The suspect had previously lodged complaints regarding damages to his property but was reportedly dissatisfied with the repair work carried out.
