A 40-year-old Malaysian man was fatally shot outside a restaurant in Taman Setia Indah, Johor Bahru, on Jan 8, 2025. The incident, which occurred at noon, has been described by police as an isolated case with no links to broader security threats.
Johor Police Chief M Kumar emphasized that the public should remain calm, stating that the incident poses no broader safety concerns. He urged residents to refrain from speculating or sharing unverified information that could disrupt investigations.
The victim was shot four times while dining at a restaurant. Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots before a motorcycle fled the scene. The victim collapsed and died at the location.
Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed that a special team is reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness testimonies. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder.
