Record-Breaking Tourist Arrivals Bolstered by Mutual Visa Waiver Agreements
Singapore’s tourism sector recorded a significant boost in November 2024, welcoming over 1.23 million international visitors, a 12.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth was largely driven by travelers from Indonesia, China, and Malaysia, underscoring the city-state’s appeal as a global tourist destination.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) revealed the latest statistics for November 2024, highlighting robust growth in international arrivals. Strategic partnerships and agreements, such as the China-Singapore visa exemption policy, have played a crucial role in boosting numbers.
Indonesia Tops the List of Arrivals
With 194,440 visitors in November, Indonesia led the pack, reflecting a 5.5% increase from the previous year. The proximity and cultural ties between the two nations continue to make Singapore a popular choice for Indonesian travelers.

China Emerges as a Key Driver
Chinese tourists surged by an impressive 67.5% year-on-year, with 174,750 arrivals. Analysts attribute this rise to the visa waiver agreement introduced in February 2024, which significantly simplified travel for Chinese nationals.
Malaysia Rounds Out the Top Three
Malaysia accounted for 101,920 visitors, showing a 9.1% growth from the previous year. The shared border and affordable travel options make Singapore a convenient getaway for Malaysians.
Despite the impressive annual growth, November’s arrivals were slightly lower than October’s 1.31 million visitors. However, the average stay duration in November remained strong at 3.54 days, indicating continued engagement with Singapore’s attractions.
