Sei Ladi Flyover in Batam Reaches 85% Completion, Set for December Opening

Batam, November 20 — The Sei Ladi Flyover, officially named “Lela Bahari,” has reached 85% completion, according to BP Batam. Construction is progressing smoothly, with the flyover slated for inauguration in mid-December 2024. Designed to address traffic congestion and enhance connectivity across major routes in Batam, the project includes multiple infrastructure improvements such as pedestrian lanes, cycling paths, and road widening initiatives.


The Sei Ladi Flyover is part of a multiyear infrastructure development contract initiated on December 28, 2023. It connects Sekupang, Batam Center, and Nagoya, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion. BP Batam, through its Sub-Directorate of Port and Airport Development led by Boy Zasmita, oversees the project. The flyover spans 120 meters in length and 10.5 meters in width, featuring three lanes for one-way traffic.


Construction Progress
As of mid-November 2024, the Sei Ladi Flyover construction has progressed to 85%. Ongoing works include final road casting, installation of decorative parapets with a “pucuk rebung” motif, and embankment adjustments for abutments.

Additional Features
In addition to the flyover’s main structure, the project includes pedestrian paths, U-turn access near Pura Amertha Buana, and the development of a nearby garden. Preparations for the official flyover nameplate, “Lela Bahari,” are also underway.


Multiyear Contract Scope
The project encompasses four main routes:


Route 1: Flyover connecting Sekupang to Batam Center.
Route 2: Pedestrian and cycling lanes from Pura Agung to SMK Kartini.
Route 3: Road widening towards Baloi.
Route 4: New alternative route linking Baloi and Batam Center via SPBU Sei Ladi.


The flyover aims to ease congestion along Sekupang-Batam Center-Nagoya routes, improving commuter experiences and reducing travel times.

Boy Zasmita highlighted the lack of weather-related disruptions and sought continued public support for the project’s timely completion.
