BP Batam hosted a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) to address energy strategies needed to attract investment and support economic growth in Batam. Industry leaders and stakeholders gathered to explore infrastructure solutions for a sustainable, efficient energy supply in Batam’s industrial zones.

The energy demands of Batam’s industrial zones prompted BP Batam to hold a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) on October 30, 2024, at the Hotel Santika Batam Centre. The event, titled “Strategies to Strengthen Energy Supply to Meet Industrial Needs and Support Investment in KPBPB Batam,” aimed to gather insights from energy and industrial experts on developing a reliable energy infrastructure.

Ali Mukhtar, Head of Investment Facilitation and Competitiveness Enhancement, opened the discussion by emphasizing that stable and efficient infrastructure is essential to meet Batam’s growing industrial needs and attract further investments. “This infrastructure supports existing industries and draws new investors to Batam,” Ali remarked. His statement underscored the link between energy availability and economic stability.

Expert speakers included representatives from key energy companies, such as Andi Kurniawan of PT Fasade Kobetama Internasional, Juanda Fransiskus Lumbantobing of PT PLN Batam, Taufan Zamzami from PT PGN Tbk., and Nyoman Suwarjoni Astawa of PT Sarana Tamarin Power. Each highlighted strategies to optimize Batam’s energy supply, with discussions focused on sustainable distribution to enhance industry efficiency and productivity.

Energy supply stability is especially crucial given Batam’s rapid economic growth. By establishing efficient, cost-effective energy channels, Batam aims to become a reliable industrial hub. Ali stressed that a well-managed energy supply is “foundational for sustaining and growing Batam’s economy,” ensuring that both local industries and foreign investors can operate smoothly.

Participants, including business representatives and industry stakeholders, expressed the importance of seamless communication with BP Batam and energy providers. The forum encouraged discussion about both current and anticipated energy requirements, paving the way for partnerships that will keep Batam’s industry sectors competitive.
