BP Batam is improving its Land Management System (LMS) and updating its land database to maintain legal certainty and promote good governance in investment. While new land allocations are temporarily suspended during this process, other land-related services continue as normal, ensuring ongoing operations for existing stakeholders.

BP Batam is in the process of refining its Land Management System (LMS) to improve land data quality and business processes. This development is aimed at fostering legal certainty and good governance in the investment landscape. As part of this initiative, the allocation of new land has been temporarily paused to ensure data integrity, though other land services remain unaffected.

According to Susiwijono Moegiarso, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Indonesia and Chair of BP Batam’s Supervisory Board, the LMS enhancement focuses on improving the quality of land database records and business processes related to land allocation. Susiwijono clarified that while new land allocations are temporarily suspended, there is no moratorium on land services.

Despite ongoing updates, services like land rights extensions, land transfers, and permit issuance continue without disruption. This ensures that ongoing business activities tied to land management remain unaffected, providing a degree of continuity for investors and stakeholders while the system is updated.

Susiwijono emphasized that pausing new land allocations is a precautionary measure to prevent legal discrepancies that could arise from outdated data. “Allocating land before the database is fully updated could create uncertainty, which we aim to avoid,” he stated, stressing the importance of accurate records for investment security.

The decision to refine the LMS and update the database reflects BP Batam’s commitment to maintaining a stable and predictable investment climate. The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve governance and provide certainty to investors, ensuring that land management is conducted transparently and efficiently.

The improvements to BP Batam’s Land Management System represent a positive step toward ensuring greater investment security in Batam. While new land allocations are on hold, other services continue to function smoothly, reflecting BP Batam’s efforts to maintain a stable and trustworthy business environment.
