CIMB Niaga Partners with Batam Japan Club to Enhance Banking Services for Japanese Firms

PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk is strengthening its relationship with Japanese businesses in Batam by partnering with the Batam Japan Club. Through this collaboration, CIMB Niaga aims to provide tailored banking services for corporate and individual clients, further solidifying Batam’s status as a key hub for Japanese companies in Indonesia.


With Batam housing one of the largest Japanese business communities in Indonesia, CIMB Niaga has launched an initiative to support these companies through its specialized Japan Desk. This partnership with Batam Japan Club underscores CIMB Niaga’s commitment to delivering comprehensive banking solutions to Japanese corporations operating in the region.


According to Maya Sartika, Head of Region Sumatera at CIMB Niaga, the bank’s Japan Desk is designed to meet the banking needs of Japanese companies across Indonesia, including in Batam. CIMB Niaga provides one-stop financial solutions, including BizChannel@CIMB for corporate internet banking, offering features such as Cash Management and Foreign Exchange services.

CIMB Niaga recently hosted a “Ngobrolin Biznis” (Ngobiz) event in Batam, featuring discussions on the Indonesian and ASEAN economic outlook, minimum wage policies, and retirement systems. The event provided a platform for networking and sharing insights with Japanese business leaders in Batam, helping to foster stronger corporate relationships.


Beyond corporate services, CIMB Niaga offers a range of consumer banking products such as payroll accounts, credit cards, mortgages, and personal loans tailored to the needs of employees at Japanese firms. The bank operates six branches in Batam, supported by 47 ATMs, ensuring widespread access to its services.


CIMB Niaga also emphasizes its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. In the first half of 2024, the bank directed 26% of its total financing, or approximately Rp56.4 trillion (SGD 4.79 billion), toward supporting Indonesia’s transition to a low-carbon economy in line with the Paris Agreement and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
