The ethics commission at the Riau Islands Police Department is currently examining the involvement of Kompol SN, the Chief of Narcotics at the Polresta Barelang, and his nine-member team, amid accusations of misappropriating drug evidence. The intensive probe is being conducted by the Professionalism and Security Division (Propam), reflecting the seriousness with which Indonesian authorities are treating potential corruption within the police force.
During the ongoing sessions, Chief of Public Relations at the Riau Islands Police, Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, stated, “The ethics tribunal is actively progressing, and while details on suspect designation are confidential at this stage, the Propam division holds the investigative authority.”
Kompolnas commissioner Poengky Indarti emphasized the rigorous nature of the investigation, linking the Batam Narcotics unit to a drug lord in Kampung Aceh, Muka Kuning. “We’ve issued a clarification request to the Riau Islands Police and are awaiting their response,” she recently disclosed.
Zahwani reiterated the police department’s zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of power by law enforcement officers, stressing, “We are pursuing this case vigorously. All police personnel are required to adhere to ethical codes and regulations.”
