In an ambitious move to digitalize public services, the Batam City Government, spearheaded by the Department of Communication and Informatics, is developing an innovative app called ‘Batam BEDELAU’ to streamline and enhance the accessibility of civic resources.

Under the leadership of Rudi Panjaitan, Head of Batam’s Communication and Informatics Department, the ‘Batam BEDELAU’ project aims to bring public service information directly to the fingertips of Batam’s residents, marking a significant step in the city’s digital transformation journey.

The application is currently in the design phase, conceived as a part of a leadership training project. It promises to offer comprehensive access to public services through an easy-to-navigate digital platform.

The app is envisioned to evolve into a public enterprise (BUMD) that could generate local revenue by managing integrated ICT infrastructure, reflecting the city’s forward-thinking approach to digital governance.

The initiative also includes the development of a shared ducting system managed by the forthcoming BUMD, which aims to improve the aesthetics and safety of Batam’s telecommunications network.

Post-successful implementation in Batam, the project plans to scale up to the provincial level in Kepri and potentially serve as a national best practice by 2026 under the endorsement of various governmental bodies.
