The Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) conducted a thorough inspection of the natural gas transmission facilities at PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia’s (PT TGI) Panaran Gas Station in Batam, to ensure pipeline reliability and compliance.
In a critical maintenance operation, BPH Migas verified the condition of essential gas pipelines that have been operational since 2003, to confirm their safety and effectiveness in gas transport across the region.
Wahyudi Anas, a committee member from BPH Migas, praised the physical condition of the pipelines and the digitalization of the monitoring equipment, ensuring all operations are thoroughly overseen and recorded.
The implementation of the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system has enhanced real-time, online monitoring of gas distribution, volume, transportation, pressure, temperature, and composition, facilitating a seamless custody transfer between transporters and shippers.

The inspection confirmed that the pipelines are well-maintained and crucial for transporting natural gas from South Sumatra, Jambi, Tanjung Jabung, to Batam and the export lines to Singapore.
Iwan Prasetya Adhi, another committee member, highlighted BPH Migas’s role in communicating new regulations and facilitating discussions on tariff reviews, ensuring the economic sustainability of gas businesses while maintaining safety standards.

The field visit also included checks on metering equipment and control room monitors at Panaran Gas Station, which features four metering stations and a surveillance radar for pipeline activity.
The diligent maintenance and regulatory oversight by BPH Migas ensure the integrity of Batam’s gas supply lines, crucial for both local consumption and international export. This proactive approach by regulatory bodies helps maintain a stable and reliable energy infrastructure, vital for the region’s economic stability and safety.
BPH Migas’s recent inspection in Batam underscores the agency’s commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of gas transmission infrastructure. By implementing advanced monitoring systems and regulatory updates, BPH Migas aims to uphold high standards in the energy sector, benefiting both the local community and international partnerships.
