BP Batam’s One-Stop Integrated Services Directorate held a public consultation forum to discuss dredging and reclamation in Batam’s Free Trade and Port Zone, aiming to streamline operations and promote investment.
In collaboration with the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, the forum was designed to ensure continuity in norms, standards, and procedures in licensing, particularly under Government Regulation No. 41 of 2021 regarding the operation of Batam’s Free Trade and Port Zone.
Director Harlas Buana of BP Batam highlighted the delegated authority BP Batam has received to issue all necessary permits locally, eliminating the need for businesses to approach central government, thus speeding up the operational setup for new and existing enterprises.

The focus was on improving logistical hubs, particularly specialized terminals operated by over 130 shipyards in Batam. This involves managing business expansions and the limited availability of land for development in the city.
The forum addressed the need for dredging at shipyard sites to minimize sedimentation and facilitate smoother ship maneuvers. Specific licensing for these activities is now streamlined through BP Batam, ensuring compliance with set standards before and after dredging processes.
BP Batam has integrated its licensing processes with the national Online Single Submission (OSS) system to encourage businesses to use the OSS Risk Based Approach (RBA) and Batam’s local IBOSS platform. This integration is intended to expedite business permissions and increase investment realization.

BP Batam’s recent public forum, aimed at discussing and improving the efficiency of business operations within the port sector, has laid out a comprehensive plan to ensure a smoother, faster business licensing process. This initiative is expected to attract more investment and promote economic development in Batam, enhancing its role as a key logistical hub in the region.
