Batam Center Ferry Port Set for IDR 3.4 Trillion Expansion to Boost Capacity and Commerce

The Batam Center International Ferry Port is gearing up for a significant expansion, with an investment of IDR 3.4 trillion (approximately SGD 285.6 million) aimed at modernizing and enlarging one of Batam’s main transport hubs.

In an ambitious move to cater to growing passenger and commercial demands, Batam’s principal ferry terminal is set to undergo extensive development, encompassing operational, maintenance, and infrastructural enhancements.

The total investment for the project is estimated at IDR 3.4 trillion, covering both operational enhancements and commercial area development, which will transform the port into a modern transport and business hub.

The expansion will include the construction of a new terminal building to accommodate increasing passenger volumes, with the current facilities operating beyond capacity.

Besides enhancing port facilities, the project plans to develop approximately 24 hectares of reclaimed land for commercial purposes, including hotels and malls.

Located near the strategic Strait of Malacca and on the coast of Sumatra, Batam Center Ferry Port’s expansion is crucial for enhancing regional connectivity and supporting Batam’s role in international trade and tourism.
