The Bintan Triathlon, a marquee event combining sports and tourism, has made a striking comeback, drawing over 400 athletes from 35 countries. This resurgence not only highlights Bintan as a hub for sports tourism but also marks a significant revival of tourism in the region.
After a three-year hiatus, the Bintan Triathlon has returned with renewed vigor under the auspices of the Bintan Resorts Cakrawala and TriFactor, supported by both the Bintan district and Kepri provincial governments. The event showcases endurance through swimming, cycling, and running.
The triathlon, featuring categories such as Enduro (101.5 km), Olympic (51.5 km), and Sprint (25.75 km), was officially started by Bintan’s Regent, Roby Kurniawan, early in the morning, symbolizing the high level of local government support for the event.

This year’s event saw an increase in participants, with notable athletes like Andy Wibowo, Inge Prasetyo, and Chaidir Akbar from Indonesia, and international figures such as Arthur Tong, Elaine Young, and Choo Ling Er from Singapore, enhancing the competition’s prestige.
Regent Roby Kurniawan remarked on the triathlon’s success as a testament to the resurgence of tourism in Bintan. The event not only highlights the physical challenges of the triathlon but also Bintan’s natural beauty and cultural richness, attracting more visitors and media attention.
