Batam’s Mayor, Muhammad Rudi, officially commenced the construction of Terminal II at Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, Riau Islands Province, marking a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure development.
This strategic infrastructure project is designed to enhance Batam’s appeal as a major international and commercial hub in Indonesia, aligning with broader regional development plans.
The groundbreaking event featured traditional drumming, ribbon cutting, and soil turning, symbolizing the beginning of construction, attended by local government and regional leaders.
Terminal II, sprawling over 50,000 square meters, is projected to handle 9.6 million passengers annually and includes a new parking area and an apron that can accommodate ten additional aircraft.
The terminal’s design incorporates local cultural elements with modern architectural features, intended to reflect Batam’s heritage and forward-looking ambitions.
The development plan includes a shopping mall and hotel within the airport complex, aiming to provide immediate amenities to international visitors and transit passengers.
