Batam Authority (BP Batam) has officially commenced construction of Terminal 2 at Hang Nadim International Airport, signaling a major upgrade aimed at enhancing international travel facilities in the region.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of a significant development phase for Hang Nadim Airport, with completion targeted for 2026. This project underlines Batam’s strategic role in international aviation and regional tourism.
The event featured traditional ceremonies, including drum beating and ribbon cutting, officiated by Muhammad Rudi, head of BP Batam, symbolizing the start of the construction phase.

Terminal 2, sprawling over 50,000 square meters, is designed to handle up to 9.6 million passengers annually. The architectural design will reflect local cultural elements, showcasing motifs such as the eagle, marlin fish, and gonggong batik, blending modern aesthetics with regional heritage.
The expansion includes enhancements to both airside and landside facilities, aimed at accommodating more international flights, with specific routes planned for Incheon, China, and Japan over the next two years.
BP Batam encourages local community involvement in overseeing the construction process, ensuring transparency and fostering public interest in the project’s success.
