Indonesia Commits to Accelerating Global Energy Transition

At the World Energy Congress in Rotterdam, Indonesian Minister of Energy, Arifin Tasrif, reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to global energy transition efforts.

Speaking at the ministerial roundtable in Rotterdam, Minister Arifin highlighted Indonesia’s updated and ambitious goals under its Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (e-NDC), aimed at significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Indonesia has increased its greenhouse gas reduction targets to 32% through domestic efforts and 43% with international support, up from previous targets of 29% and 41%, respectively.

Emphasizing the need for critical minerals essential for technologies like solar panels, Arifin outlined the role these materials play in supporting sustainable energy resources.

Indonesia is encouraging the shift to electric vehicles and promoting innovative technologies in industries to boost energy efficiency and reduce emissions significantly.

The minister stressed the importance of broad collaborations, not just domestically but also internationally, to accelerate the shift towards clean energy.
