The Batam Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) has reported a significant rise in revenue from the hotel sector, achieving 10.9 billion IDR ($916,000 SGD) by April 2024. This figure not only surpasses the month’s revenue target but also highlights the positive impact of the extended Lebaran holiday period on the local economy.
The increased revenue from Batam’s hotel industry in April 2024 reflects a robust response to the extended Lebaran holiday, a time traditionally associated with increased travel and hotel stays. The surge in hotel revenues is seen as a key indicator of the health of Batam’s tourism sector and its ability to attract both domestic and international visitors.
Batam’s hotels generated 10.9 billion IDR ($916,000 SGD) in revenue up to April 18, significantly exceeding the set target of 9.5 billion IDR for the month.

The long Lebaran holiday was a major contributor to the revenue spike, reflecting the seasonality and potential of holiday-driven economic boosts in the region.
Besides hotels, the Food and Beverage Services Tax also neared its target, collecting 9.7 billion IDR against a 10 billion IDR goal, marking 97% achievement.
Bapenda is working closely with the Batam City Council to optimize revenue from various tourism and entertainment sectors through targeted taxation and retribution strategies.
