The rescue operation began in January after receiving information about an illegal migration attempt through Batam’s Harbourbay Port. Two female candidates were intercepted, leading to the subsequent arrests.

Further investigations led to arrests in Tangerang and Tegal, with three suspects detained for their roles in recruiting victims from those areas.

The suspects operated by facilitating undocumented migration to Malaysia, promising lucrative salaries but subjecting victims to exploitation.
