In a significant stride toward becoming a high-value industrial hub, Batam, Indonesia, is enhancing its appeal to attract American semiconductor manufacturers. With the US diversifying its manufacturing bases away from China, Batam stands poised as a promising destination for semiconductor production facilities.
The Badan Pengusahaan Kawasan Perdagangan Bebas dan Pelabuhan Bebas Batam (BP Batam) is making concerted efforts to lure American investors to establish semiconductor manufacturing plants on the island. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to develop Batam as a free trade and special economic zone, as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 1/2024.
