In 2023, Batam, located in the Riau Islands, witnessed a staggering investment influx of Rp508.25 million (approximately Rp7.52 trillion), predominantly from foreign sources, with Singapore as the leading contributor.
The year 2023 marked a significant upsurge in Batam’s investment landscape, with an impressive amount of foreign capital flowing into the region, reflecting its growing appeal as an investment destination.
Batam’s foreign investment realization hit Rp508.25 million, equating to around Rp7.52 trillion, sourced from numerous projects initiated between the first and third quarters of 2023.

Singapore emerged as the top foreign investor in Batam, contributing to a significant portion of the total investment, followed by China and France.
The investments predominantly focused on sectors like machinery, electronics, medical instruments, electrical equipment, precision and optics, as well as residential, industrial, and office developments.
Muhammad Rudi, Head of the Batam Investment Board, anticipates that ongoing developments will positively influence future investment realizations in Batam.
