Batam Customs has carried out the destruction of state-owned property (Barang Milik Negara – BMN) seized in customs and excise enforcement operations from 2015 to 2023, amounting to an estimated value of Rp 7.9 billion. The confiscated items included tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, electronic goods, tires, and sex toys.
The destruction took place at PT Desa Air Cargo’s waste management facility in Kabil, Batam. This operation is part of Batam Customs’ commitment to protect the public from the circulation of illegal and hazardous items.
The goods destroyed included 6,635,968 cigarettes, 6.23 kilograms of tobacco products, 6,048 bottles/cans of alcoholic drinks, 995 used tires, 932 electronic items (phones and laptops), and 408 sex toys.

Head of Batam Customs Office, Rizal, emphasized that the destruction was carried out in accordance with existing laws and regulations, specifically citing Article 33 of PMK 178/2019.
The main goal was to eliminate the primary function of these illegal items, ensuring they cannot be used or repurposed.

The operation was a result of synergy and collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, reflecting a joint commitment to safeguarding the community.
