Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam is anticipated to experience a significant increase in passenger traffic, reaching about 10,500 daily as the year-end holiday season approaches, with peak days expected around December 22-23, 2023, and January 2, 2024.
The international airport, a key hub in Batam, is gearing up for a busy holiday period, with a notable rise in passengers traveling for the Christmas and New Year festivities. This period typically sees an influx of travelers, prompting the airport to enhance its operational capabilities.
The peak of passenger flow is forecasted on December 22-23, 2023, and January 2, 2024, with an estimated 12,000 passengers arriving and departing daily during these peak times.

To accommodate the holiday rush, seven additional domestic flight schedules have been introduced, particularly on the Batam-Medan and Batam-Jakarta routes, with airlines like Lion Group and Garuda Group expanding their operations.
Operational Director Nugroho Jati of Batam International Airport ensures that all preparations, including staff readiness, facility enhancements, and service quality, are in place for the Christmas-New Year period.
Approximately 40 personnel, along with external support from TNI/Polri, SAR, and combined assistance from PLN, immigration, customs, and quarantine, are on high alert to maintain security and smooth operations during the festive season.

Despite flight schedules running until 10:00 PM WIB, the airport will operate 24 hours to accommodate any emergency international flights, especially those destined for Changi Airport in Singapore.
This increase in travel activity at Hang Nadim Airport is significant not only for Batam residents but also for Singaporeans and international visitors, enhancing connectivity and facilitating holiday travel to and from the region.
