Batam’s tourism landscape saw a remarkable change in October 2023, with a surge in visitors from Singapore, India, and China, while Malaysian tourist numbers dwindled significantly.
Singaporeans were the most numerous visitors to Batam in October 2023, with a total of 44,789 arrivals, reflecting the city’s appeal to neighboring countries.

Following Singapore, tourists from India, China, the Philippines, and the United States also marked substantial visits, showcasing Batam’s international appeal.
There was a noticeable decrease in Malaysian tourists, with a 98.54% drop compared to the previous month, indicating a shift in travel preferences or external factors influencing travel decisions.
Hotel Occupancy Rates (TPK) for starred hotels in the Riau Islands Province in October 2023 averaged at 43.83%, a slight decrease from September 2023 and lower than the national average.

The average length of stay for both foreign and Indonesian guests in starred hotels in the Riau Islands was 1.85 days in October 2023, slightly increasing from the previous month.
