In a landmark initiative uniting technology and tradition, Induk KUD and SCash Global have embarked on UFarm: a pioneering digital project https://scashglobal.com/UFarm/ set to revolutionize the lives of Indonesian farmers and fishermen. This ambitious collaboration, announced in Jakarta on November 4 2023, represents a significant stride towards empowering over 13 million members across Indonesia’s vast archipelago.

Bridging Gaps through Technology
At the heart of this innovative initiative lies the aim to provide direct market access and innovative digital solutions to agricultural and marine products. A striking example of this was seen in the successful pilot project in Malang, where direct export of cabbages to Taiwan was facilitated, bypassing traditional intermediaries. This move not only simplifies the supply chain but also ensures better returns for the farmers.

A Vision of Inclusivity and Growth
Together with representatives from 9,437 KUD divisions across 29 provinces, this initiative represents a melting pot of ideas and aspirations. Wu Jui Lang, the Secretary-General of the INDUK-KUD Overseas Representative Office, spoke passionately about addressing the real-world challenges faced by Indonesian farmers and fishermen. These include limited access to loans, market uncertainties, and inadequate infrastructure – issues that the new digital initiative aims to tackle head-on.
The UFarm Super App: A Digital Game-Changer
Central to this project is the UFarm Super App, developed by SCash Global. This comprehensive digital platform, as outlined by CEO Michael Lee, focuses on micro-finance and offers a range of practical applications. These include streamlined access to loans, a vibrant e-marketplace, and a suite of digital tools aimed at enhancing the productivity and profitability of its members.

Funding and Future Prospects
The project has already secured significant funding, with further financial support expected by the first quarter of 2024. This will enable the expansion of micro-financing opportunities and the introduction of innovative trading mechanisms. By the end of 2025, Induk KUD anticipates member benefits to reach IDR600Tn, with merchant transactions soaring to IDR 11.7Tn.
Accelerating Accessibility and Affluence
Being a major global producer of Palm oil, rice, corn, peanuts and soy bean globally and domestically, Indonesia’s farmers have plenty of growth opportunities to capitalize on together with global traders and merchants, beyond local suppliers and distributors.

Impact Beyond Borders
The implications of this alliance extend far beyond the local Indonesian context. By integrating advanced digital solutions with traditional farming practices, Induk KUD and SCash Global are setting a precedent for global agricultural reform. The partnership with global entities like Alibaba Cloud and Alipay further enhances this impact, positioning Indonesia as a key player in the international market.
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
UFarm initiative seems to be designed and developed more than just a technological upgrade; it represents a shift towards a more sustainable and equitable agricultural sector in Indonesia. By empowering farmers with digital tools and financial access, the project aims to elevate the quality of life for millions, ensuring a more viable and sustainable future for the nation.

The Road Ahead
As INDUK KUD and SCash Global continue to expand and refine their digital efforts, the future looks bright for Indonesia’s agricultural sector. This meaningful food sustainability and people empowerment project is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in addressing real-world challenges and shaping a more connected, prosperous, and sustainable future for many across Indonesia.
