PT Bandara Internasional Batam (PT BIB) recently held a full-scale emergency response drill at Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, focusing on aircraft accident and bomb threat scenarios. The exercise aimed to enhance readiness among various stakeholders and personnel.
The drill, directed by PT BIB’s CEO Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah, was essential for maintaining the airport’s status as a national vital and ensuring continuous preparedness for potential emergencies. The exercise was part of the airport’s commitment to international standards in emergency handling.
The exercise involved two major scenarios: handling aircraft accidents and responding to bomb threats at the airport. This comprehensive approach highlights the airport’s preparedness for diverse emergency situations.
Over 200 personnel from 38 different institutions, including the police, military, and fire services, participated in the drill. This collaboration underscores the integrated effort required in managing airport emergencies.

The training, which is conducted at least once every two years, is vital for testing and improving the airport’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the readiness of its human resources.
The drill also included a Media Center exercise to ensure efficient and accurate communication with the public and family members during emergencies.
Pikri emphasized the importance of such exercises in elevating Hang Nadim Airport’s capabilities to an international level, particularly in managing emergency situations.
This comprehensive emergency drill at Hang Nadim Airport not only enhances the safety of domestic passengers but also boosts confidence among international visitors and stakeholders in Singapore and beyond. It demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards in its aviation sector.
