Pecong Island, situated near the Singapore border and home to about 2,000 residents, is grappling with land legality issues. Amidst worker demonstrations in Batam, Mayor Muhammad Rudi’s visit highlighted the government’s efforts to address these challenges and improve community welfare.
Mayor Rudi, during his visit, emphasized the need to resolve land legality issues on Pecong Island and instructed local officials to conduct land surveys for official certification.

Alongside addressing land legality, Rudi distributed welfare packages to families under the Family Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan – PKH), reflecting the administration’s effort to ease economic burdens and curb inflation.
Marlin Agustina, Vice Governor of Kepri and Chairperson of TP-PKK Batam, praised the Batam City Government for its repeated welfare initiatives, underscoring the positive impact on the local community.
Leo Putra, Head of Batam’s Social Service Department, reported that 18,612 PKH beneficiaries across Batam would receive the welfare packages, marking a significant increase from the previous year’s 10,000 recipients.

The welfare package includes essential food items and is distributed quarterly, with each package valued at Rp 200,000, aiming to support families in need while promoting public health protocols.
