The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore recently held the ‘ASEAN Gala Night’, a festive event marking the end of the ASEAN chairmanship and showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the ASEAN member states.
The ‘ASEAN Gala Night’ is an annual tradition among ASEAN member states in Singapore, symbolizing the conclusion of the ASEAN chairmanship and emphasizing the importance of unity within the ASEAN community.
The event commenced with the Acehnese Ratoh Jaroe dance by students from the Indonesian School in Singapore, setting a vibrant tone for the evening.

Ambassador Suryo Pratomo of Indonesia presented a Sumba woven cloth to the Laotian Ambassador in Singapore, symbolizing the transfer of ASEAN chairmanship to Laos for 2024.
The event, themed ‘Harmonious ASEAN in Diversity’, was attended by Albert Chua, the Secretary-General of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from dialogue partner countries.
Each ASEAN country displayed its unique culture and cuisine through art performances and traditional food stalls, with Indonesia offering popular dishes like chicken and Padang satay.

The Indonesian Legong Bali dance and a performance by the talented Indonesian-Singaporean musician Arya Yunata wrapped up the festivities.
