Vice Governor of the Riau Islands, Hj Marlin Agustina, attended the grand finale of Batam’s Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) 2023 event, lauding the exceptional progress of local businesses.

The event, which spanned four days and concluded on November 12, 2023, celebrated the participation of 250 small business owners across various sectors and included workshops for high school students, along with the distribution of 500 Halal certificates as part of the 2023 Free Halal Certification (Sehati) Program by Halal Center Cendekia Muslim.

The event featured a vibrant entertainment stage to showcase the products of Batam’s entrepreneurs, including a fashion show of workshop creations, and photo and video product competitions.

In addition to the festivities, the event also recognized outstanding micro-businesses of the year.

As Chair of the Local Craft Council (Dekranasda) of Batam, Marlin has witnessed the powerful development of over 250 UMKM and small industries in the city.

The Vice Governor emphasized the impressive quality and packaging of local products that contribute to the fierce advancement of these business warriors.

The event also highlighted the role of education in business development, with workshops aimed at empowering 100 high school students in Batam.

The rapid development of Batam’s UMKM signifies a robust local economy and presents opportunities for cross-border collaboration and investment, particularly for neighboring regions like Singapore.
