In a significant humanitarian gesture, Indonesia has shipped 51.5 tons of logistical aid to the Palestinian people, a collective effort involving the government, business sector, and citizens, endorsed by President Joko Widodo.

The dispatch, which includes food, medicine, women’s and children’s supplies, and disability support equipment, was launched from Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta, highlighting Indonesia’s commitment to international humanitarian efforts.

President Joko Widodo personally oversaw the departure of the aid, stressing the importance of solidarity and concern for global humanitarian issues, especially the ongoing struggles in Palestine.

The aid package is transported using two C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Indonesian Air Force and one leased Airbus, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery to the conflict-affected area.

The collaboration between the Indonesian government, Baznas, the Red Cross, and Humanitarian Forum Indonesia exemplifies the nation’s united front in providing international aid.

The logistical support will land at El Arish Airport in Egypt, the closest to Gaza, before being handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent for distribution through UNRWA and the ICRC in Gaza.

This aid marks the first batch of ongoing support from Indonesia, with more expected to follow, reflecting the nation’s continued advocacy for Palestinian independence and well-being.

Indonesia’s active role in providing aid to Palestine signifies the country’s deep-rooted commitment to humanitarian values and a strong stance on international issues, potentially strengthening Indonesia’s global standing and fostering closer international relations.
