A significant stride in maritime connectivity: KMP Damai Lautan Nusantara (DLN) is set to launch its new RoRo service, connecting Jakarta, Batam, and Belawan.

As part of the ongoing efforts to bolster maritime infrastructure and provide efficient transport alternatives, the new RoRo route is expected to significantly benefit both passengers and cargo transportation across these major Indonesian cities.

The RoRo ship, named KMP Damai Lautan Nusantara (DLN), boasts an impressive capacity. It can accommodate up to 1,100 passengers and has been designed with state-of-the-art facilities. These include 680 bed units, 350 seats, 12 VIP rooms, and dedicated areas like a dining hall, canteen, smoking room, and a children’s play area.

In terms of cargo, the vessel is structured efficiently. Its lower deck can accommodate 24 tronton trucks. The main deck has the capacity for 62 large trucks, 6 medium-sized trucks, while the upper deck can fit 50 medium-sized trucks and 80 small vehicles.

Having begun its maiden voyage from Jakarta to Batam on 10th October 2023, the ship is scheduled for its inaugural journey from Batam to Belawan on 12th October, with the return to Batam set for 14th October and its voyage back to Jakarta on 15th October.

Apart from addressing transportation needs, the introduction of the RoRo route, especially in Batam, is seen as a convenience for the community. It offers them an alternative mode of transport amidst the soaring prices of air tickets.
