The Indonesian government has set ambitious employment goals for the Rempang Eco-City, aiming to offer around 306,000 job opportunities by 2080.

Ariastuty Sirait, Head of Public Relations, Promotion, and Protocol of the Batam Management Agency (BP Batam), emphasized the Eco-City’s pivotal role in generating vast employment avenues for the Kepri community, notably the youth in Batam.

Eyes are on the youth as they are set to receive specialized training to equip them for the future industrial challenges. The government is intent on enhancing the competitive edge of its young workforce.

Rempang Eco-City isn’t just a local initiative; it has been highlighted in the 2023 National Strategic Program, showcasing its significance in the nation’s developmental roadmap.

Central Government’s attention to the project is evident from its strategic collaboration between BP Batam and PT Makmur Elok Graha (MEG). Their mission? To transform Pulau Rempang into an integrated hub for industry, trade, and tourism, asserting Indonesia’s prowess against Singapore and Malaysia.

With an estimated investment reaching IDR 381 trillion by 2080, the project isn’t just about figures. It’s a testament to Indonesia’s vision for a sustainable and economically vibrant future.

Such extensive development in Pulau Rempang isn’t just a localized effort. The spillover effect is anticipated to bolster economic growth in Batam and other districts within the Kepri Province.

Rempang Eco-City, beyond its local implications, can be seen as Indonesia’s bold move to cement its position in Southeast Asia. As it rises, Singaporeans and international stakeholders can expect a transformed regional landscape with expanded trade, tourism, and collaborative opportunities.

Indonesia’s ambitious Rempang Eco-City project is set to provide around 306,000 job opportunities by 2080. This initiative, part of the 2023 National Strategic Program, aims to transform Pulau Rempang into a vital hub, enhancing Indonesia’s competitiveness against regional giants like Singapore and Malaysia.
