Indonesian Police Arrest Six for Running ‘Family Fantasy’, a Disturbing Facebook Incest Group.
Authorities in Indonesia have arrested six individuals, including the admin of the notorious Facebook group “Family Fantasy,” accused of facilitating incest-related content. The case has ignited public fury and drawn sharp condemnation from lawmakers.
Shocking Arrests and the Role of Bareskrim
The Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has arrested six suspects tied to the Facebook group “Family Fantasy,” known for promoting incest-themed discussions. The admin, identified as MIM, was arrested alongside five others who served as moderators and content creators within the group. The arrests were made public on May 14, 2025, during a press conference by Bareskrim’s Cybercrime Directorate.

Police Firm on Zero Tolerance
The arrests were made under Indonesia’s Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law, the Pornography Law, as well as the Child Protection Law, which carry penalties of up to 15 years imprisonment and fines up to IDR 6 billion (approx. SGD 480,000).

Roles of the Six Suspects
Each of the six suspects played a distinct role in managing and growing the illicit group:
MR: Group creator of the ‘Family Fantasy’ Facebook group. The group was made on August 2024.
DK: Member and active contributor who distributed pornographic materials & actively promoted it.
MS, MJ, MA, and KA: Members who regularly contributed obscene content and moderated discussions.
They operated under the guise of “fantasy” but in reality, distributed pornographic materials violating child protection and anti-pornography laws.

A Deeper Threat on Social Media
This case highlights how predators are exploiting digital spaces to normalize illegal behavior. Although Indonesia has strict anti-pornography laws, enforcement in digital realms remains a challenge. This arrest serves as a wake-up call to governments, platforms, and parents alike.
The fact that such a large group existed undetected for years raises urgent questions about algorithmic oversight and international platform responsibility.

Government Urged to Act Fast
Cyberlaw experts are calling for a joint task force involving KOMINFO (Ministry of Communication and Information Technology), law enforcement, and Meta representatives. The goal: close loopholes, prosecute remaining offenders, and ensure content is swiftly taken down before harm spreads.
The Indonesian government has vowed to enhance digital surveillance and enforce stricter regulations against online abuse communities.
The Family Fantasy case is a wake-up call for both nations and platforms to recognize the dark potential of unregulated online groups. For Indonesians and Singaporeans alike—where social media is deeply ingrained—this incident exposes how even seemingly niche digital spaces can evolve into serious threats to societal values, children’s safety, and the rule of law.
