BP Batam Chief collaborates with Student Alliance on Rp1.45 Trillion UWT for New Community Villages
Chairman Nuryanto emphasized the importance of ensuring community security and smooth investment while BP Batam Chief Muhammad Rudi provided detailed insights into development plans. Rudi revealed that a promised 17,600-hectare land concession to PT Makmur Elok Graha (PT MEG) from 2004 would now see only approximately 7,200 hectares developed, with plans for incremental development over time.
PT MEG’s 80-year land concession, valued at Rp381 trillion in total investments, will soon welcome substantial contributions, including the second-largest glass company from China, Xinyi, with investments totaling Rp172 trillion.
BP Batam aims to generate around Rp1.45 trillion from Annual Mandatory Contributions (UWT) while allocating roughly Rp1.8 trillion for development. Additionally, each resident’s new house construction is set at Rp120 million per home, occupying 500 square meters of land per house. Certificates will be provided, and heavy equipment is expected to commence work immediately.
Rudi pledged to expedite land certificates and initiate construction in 2024. Furthermore, every individual will receive Rp1.2 million as a living allowance, along with a monthly house rent stipend of Rp1.2 million, which will be transferred to their respective accounts.
In reassuring tones, Rudi stated, “I will not cause suffering to my community,” emphasizing his commitment to assisting the Pulau Rempang and Galang residents.
This dialogue is anticipated to bridge the demands of the Batam Student Alliance and the authorities, serving as a concrete step toward resolving issues on Pulau Rempang and Galang.
The constructive dialogue between BP Batam and local stakeholders underscores Batam’s commitment to balanced development and community welfare. For Singaporeans and international visitors, this signifies Batam’s ongoing transformation and the potential for increased economic cooperation and investment opportunities in the region.
A dialogue in Batam reveals positive developments, as BP Batam unveils plans for significant investments and community support. The dialogue addresses land concessions, revenue targets, affordable housing, and living allowances, reaffirming the commitment to community welfare. This signals potential opportunities for international investors and visitors in Batam’s evolving landscape.
