NParks opens 500 plots across 13 sites as urban gardening demand grows.

Singapore is expanding access to community gardening, giving more households the opportunity to grow their own plants in dedicated plots across parks and heartland locations.

500 Plots Open for Applications
The National Parks Board, or NParks, has opened applications for 500 allotment gardening plots across 13 locations from 2 p.m. on October 20 until 11:59 p.m. on November 2, 2026. Major allocations include 91 plots at HortPark, 84 at Punggol Waterway Park, and 68 at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. Other locations include Bedok Reservoir Park, West Coast Park, Lower Seletar Reservoir Park, East Coast Park Area A, and Bukit Canberra.

Applications Run Through AXS
Interested households must apply through AXS e-Station, m-Station, or physical AXS kiosks, with plots allocated through computerized balloting. Each household may apply for only one plot at one location during the exercise, and submitting multiple applications does not increase the chance of securing a plot.

Each Plot Costs S$65.40 Annually
Successful applicants will receive a raised planter bed measuring 2.5m by 1m, soil, and a small storage area for gardening tools. The 2026 rental rate is S$65.40 per year, including GST, for a lease of up to three years. Successful applicants must pay for the full lease period stated in their offer letter when accepting the plot. Shared water points are available, but electricity is not provided.

Successful Applicants Hear Back Within Month
NParks said successful applicants will receive an offer letter by email from AXS within one month after applications close on November 2, while unsuccessful applicants will be notified within three months. Most plots have estimated lease start dates in the second quarter of 2027, although the 68 plots at Clementi Woods Park are listed for the fourth quarter of 2027.

Scheme Has Expanded Beyond 2,500 Plots
Singapore currently has more than 2,500 allotment gardening plots across 29 parks and gardens. The Allotment Gardening Scheme was introduced in 2016, and NParks said it will continue working with government agencies, town councils, and grassroots organizations to introduce more gardening spaces, including locations outside traditional parklands.

For Singaporeans, the 500 new plots provide another opportunity to participate directly in urban gardening within shared public spaces. For Indonesians interested in community-based urban agriculture, Singapore’s allotment model offers a regional example of how small individual gardening spaces can be incorporated into parks and residential areas.
