Immigration removes Australian visitor after viral CCTV footage triggered police investigation in Bali.

An Australian visitor has been deported from Bali and barred from returning to Indonesia for a decade after an indecent act recorded outside a North Kuta residence drew police and immigration action.

Australian Deported and Banned for 10 Years
Indonesian immigration authorities deported an Australian man identified only as BA to Brisbane on the night of September 8, 2026, following a public indecency case in Bali. The Directorate General of Immigration also imposed a 10-year ban on his re-entry to Indonesia. Ngurah Rai Immigration Office head Muhamad Novyandri said the action reflected cooperation between immigration and police in maintaining public order and security involving foreign nationals in Bali.

CCTV Captured Incident in North Kuta
The case began after BA was recorded engaging in sexual intercourse with an unidentified foreign woman in the yard of a house in Tibubeneng village, North Kuta, Badung regency, on August 22. The homeowner witnessed the incident, while CCTV footage from the property also captured the pair. The footage was later uploaded to social media and went viral, prompting police to investigate and identify one of the people involved.

Immigration Arrested BA Before Brisbane Flight
Authorities identified BA through their investigation and immigration coordination before placing him on a Subject of Interest list to monitor his movements. Officers arrested him at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on August 25, shortly before he was due to board a flight to Brisbane. He was then questioned and handed to Badung Police as officers examined the criminal aspect of the case.

Homeowner Requested Criminal Case Be Stopped
Although BA could have faced imprisonment over the incident, police ultimately dropped the criminal case after the homeowner forgave him and asked authorities to halt the legal process. Police subsequently transferred BA back to immigration authorities, which proceeded with administrative action and deportation rather than criminal prosecution.

Immigration Promises Stronger Foreign Visitor Oversight
Novyandri said the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office would continue strengthening surveillance of foreign nationals and coordinating with law enforcement agencies. He said authorities would take firm action if immigration violations were identified, while supervision of foreign visitors would remain part of efforts to maintain security and order in Bali.

The case demonstrates the immigration consequences foreign visitors can face in Indonesia even when a related criminal process does not continue. For Indonesians, the authorities’ response emphasizes enforcement of local rules involving foreign nationals, while Singaporeans and other regional travelers visiting Bali should remain aware that conduct during their stay can result in deportation and long-term entry restrictions.
