Two Batam students earn international recognition after competing in prestigious Quran recitation event in Malaysia.

Two students from Batam have earned international recognition after demonstrating their Quran recitation skills in an online competition organized in Malaysia. Representing MAN 1 Batam, the students secured awards at an international Quran recitation competition involving participants from five Southeast Asian countries.

Two MAN 1 Batam Students Earn Awards
Two students from MAN 1 Batam, Muhammad Naufal Arkan and Zahra Aulia Rahmah, achieved strong results at an international Quran recitation competition held in Malaysia. Competing against participants from five Southeast Asian countries, Nailah finished second in the girls’ tilawah category, while Denis placed fifth in the boys’ category.

Competition Brings Together International Participants
The competition brought together 53 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. Beyond technical recitation, tilawah competitions typically assess elements such as pronunciation, tajwid, vocal quality, rhythm, and overall presentation, requiring participants to combine extensive preparation with confidence on stage.

Achievement Follows Intensive Preparation
The students underwent intensive training and guidance through Raudhah MAN 1 Batam before submitting their entries. Their participation demonstrates how religious education and extracurricular development can provide students with opportunities beyond the classroom, while international competitions give young participants experience performing in a more demanding environment.

School Celebrates International Recognition
MAN 1 Batam welcomed the achievement as a source of pride for the school community. Success at an international competition can also provide motivation for other students to develop their abilities and pursue opportunities beyond local and national competitions, particularly in fields where Batam’s schools already have promising young talent.

Batam Youth Gain Regional Exposure
The achievement carries additional significance because of Batam’s location within a closely connected Southeast Asian region. Success by MAN 1 Batam students demonstrates how young people from the city can use that regional connectivity to gain experience and recognition beyond Indonesia.

The international achievements of Muhammad Naufal Arkan and Zahra Aulia Rahmah highlight the potential of Batam’s students when given preparation and opportunities to compete beyond Indonesia. For Indonesians, their success represents another example of young people from the regions earning recognition internationally. For Malaysians and Singaporeans, it also highlights the educational and cultural connections that continue to bring young people together across neighboring Southeast Asian countries.
