Armed units secure building as investigators dismantle cross-border “judol” syndicate operations.
Jakarta Metro Police have deployed Brimob officers to secure a building in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta, during a major operation against an international online gambling syndicate.
Brimob Security Deployment
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Commissioner Budi Hermanto said Brimob officers were sent in full gear on May 8 and 9 to secure the site as investigators from Polda Metro Jaya and Bareskrim Polri moved against a suspected cross-border online gambling network operating from a building in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta.
Ensuring Safe Evidence Gathering
He said the Brimob presence was meant to guarantee that investigators could safely collect evidence and detain suspects without interference, given the scale of the operation and potential security risks tied to an international syndicate.
Location And Seized Equipment
The enforcement action focused on a specific commercial building where police detected online gambling operations; officers have so far seized electronic devices believed to support the syndicate’s activities while questioning multiple individuals found on-site.
Ongoing Interrogations And Limited Details
Budi noted that the number of suspects and their specific roles have not yet been disclosed, as intensive examinations are still under way. Police will release a full chronology and results of the operation once the initial investigative phase is complete.
Public Advisory And Reporting Channels
Reaffirming Polda Metro Jaya’s commitment to eradicating gambling that harms social and economic stability, Budi urged the public to remain alert to online gambling dangers and to report suspicious activity via the 110 hotline so networks can be traced “to the roots.”
The Hayam Wuruk raid shows Indonesian authorities pairing elite tactical units with cybercrime investigators to confront increasingly sophisticated, cross-border online gambling operations. For Indonesians and Singaporeans, such actions highlight both the regional nature of digital betting syndicates and the importance of public vigilance and cross-agency cooperation in shutting them down.
