Government-chartered Malaysia Airlines flight brings evacuees safely back from Saudi Arabia
Malaysia has successfully completed its first evacuation operation for citizens affected by the Middle East conflict, bringing home 170 Malaysians and their dependents from Saudi Arabia.
First Evacuation Operation Completed
Malaysia’s National Security Council confirmed the successful completion of its first evacuation mission from the conflict-affected Middle East.
A Malaysia Airlines charter flight, MH8502, landed safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at about 12.48pm on March 11.
170 Malaysians Brought Home
A total of 170 Malaysian citizens and their dependents were evacuated during the operation.
Among them, 133 individuals were transported from the cities of Jeddah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia.
Operation Ordered by Prime Minister
The evacuation mission was conducted following instructions from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
He directed authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and welfare of Malaysians living in affected areas.
Authorities Continue Monitoring Situation
The Malaysian government said it will continue monitoring developments in the Middle East closely.
Further evacuation operations may be carried out if the security situation worsens.
Hundreds of Malaysians Still in Region
According to the Foreign Ministry, there were 641 Malaysians across several affected countries in the region as of March 8.
Officials noted that many citizens have so far been able to return home safely using regular commercial flights.
Malaysia’s evacuation effort highlights the government’s response to rising tensions in the Middle East. Authorities remain on alert and prepared to conduct further operations if the conflict escalates or threatens the safety of Malaysians abroad.
