Two horses briefly wander through residential roads before being secured

Residents in Singapore’s Pasir Ris were surprised on March 3 when two horses were spotted wandering along neighborhood roads, sparking viral videos and a swift response from authorities.

Horses Spotted on Pasir Ris Roads
Two horses, one white and one brown, were seen roaming freely along roads in Pasir Ris on March 3. Videos circulating online showed the animals moving against the flow of traffic near Stratum, a private residential development.

The horses were later spotted crossing toward the right side of traffic near Pasir Ris Elias Community Club, surprising residents and motorists in the area.

Residents Witness the Unusual Scene
Pasir Ris resident Jasper Chew said he first heard neighing outside his house along Riverina Walk at about 11.30am. Initially thinking the sound came from children playing nearby, he later stepped onto his balcony and saw the brown horse outside.

Some neighbors attempted to calm the animal by feeding it apples and bananas before police officers arrived to manage the situation.

Police Respond to Secure the Animals
Police confirmed they received a call for assistance along Elias Road at around 11.20am. Officers arrived quickly and cordoned off sections of the road using patrol vehicles.

Authorities worked together with stable staff to safely secure both horses and ensure that they did not pose danger to motorists or residents.

Horses Returned Safely to Stable
In footage shared with AsiaOne, police vehicles were seen blocking parts of the road while maintaining distance from the animals. The horses were eventually guided back safely.

Staff from Gallop Stable, a horse riding school operating at Pasir Ris Park, later confirmed that the animals had been returned without incident.

Authorities Investigating the Incident
The Animal and Veterinary Service, a division of the National Parks Board, said it is aware of the situation and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the horses’ escape.

AVS also reminded members of the public to remain calm if they encounter stray horses and avoid approaching or chasing them.

The brief appearance of runaway horses in Pasir Ris quickly captured public attention, highlighting how unusual incidents can unfold even in highly urbanized environments like Singapore. Swift coordination between residents, police, and stable staff ensured the animals were returned safely, underscoring the importance of calm and coordinated responses to unexpected situations.
