Supermarket chain marks 18th year supporting Muslim customers during fasting month
FairPrice has launched its annual Ramadan initiative, distributing 80,000 refreshment sets to Muslim customers breaking their fast in-store as the holy month begins in Singapore.
80,000 Refreshment Sets Prepared
The supermarket chain announced on Feb 19 that it will provide refreshment sets to Muslim customers 30 minutes before and after the breaking of fast.
Each set contains an apple, dates or biscuits, and a drink.
The initiative, now in its 18th consecutive year, will run throughout the fasting month until March 20 and is available at 60 FairPrice outlets islandwide.
Care Packs For Beneficiaries
On Feb 19 and 20, FairPrice Foundation distributed 500 Ramadan care packs to beneficiaries of Yayasan Mendaki.
The packs include fresh apples, dates, fresh milk, cooking paste and other essentials for breaking fast.
The foundation will also sponsor a breaking-of-fast event on March 4 in collaboration with the National Trade Union Congress, benefiting more than 100 recipients.
Strengthening Community Bonds
David Goh, chief executive officer for supermarket, Cheers and Unity, said the initiative aims to make the festive spirit accessible to all.
“We believe that by supporting our Muslim customers and community partners, we help weave a stronger, more inclusive social fabric for all Singaporeans,” he said.
Continued Cost Support Efforts
The Ramadan initiative follows earlier efforts by FairPrice to ease cost pressures.
In January, the retailer froze prices on chilled pork and selected seafood and vegetables, and launched a $6 return voucher initiative aligned with the government’s CDC Vouchers scheme.
Has Been Distributed Across
It also distributed Chinese New Year care packs to over 3,300 families in need.
FairPrice’s Ramadan programme reflects its broader commitment to community support and inclusivity. By combining in-store gestures with targeted assistance for beneficiaries, the supermarket chain continues to play a visible role in strengthening social cohesion during major festive periods in Singapore.
